FIFA Lifts Financial Sanctions on FKF, Restores Development Funds

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) gained a big lift. FIFA removed financial sanctions that blocked development funds from the FIFA Forward Programme. This step advances the federation’s reform process.

FIFA sent a formal letter on December 15, 2025. It came after a review by the Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee. The group met on December 8. They checked progress since an audit flagged issues with governance and money handling.

FKF states the review noted solid steps on an agreed action plan. FIFA now allows quick restart of the funds. These dollars support football nationwide. They matter most at grassroots level. That’s where young players start.

Funds returned, but FIFA keeps a close eye. FKF must send monthly reports on fund use. This runs until at least the next committee meeting in March 2026. The goal stays transparency and accountability amid reforms.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed shared a statement on X on December 16, 2025. He called it a key shift for Kenyan football. It signals fresh trust from FIFA.

FIFA’s move backs our federation’s path. We fix Kenyan football one step at a time. We strengthen governance. We better handle finances. We rebuild trust at every level.

He praised team effort inside the federation. Reform demands discipline and cooperation.

Hard work, discipline, and shared duty from leaders and staff brought this win. We commit fully to FIFA rules. Funds will go only to football growth in Kenya, used in the open.

The Forward funds will back key efforts. Grassroots programs top the list. So do facility upgrades, official training, and nationwide growth. The funding freeze had slowed them all.

FKF aims to restore trust with clubs, players, fans, and partners. The federation teams up with FIFA to firm up governance.
