The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) Deputy Party Leader and Kisii Governor Simba Arati has reaffirmed the party’s dedication to uphold the principles of the broad-based coalition formed by President William Ruto and the late party leader Raila Odinga.
During a gathering with ODM supporters in Nakuru on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Arati expressed that they will continue to be a part of the broad-based government until 2027, as previously indicated.
“As members of the ODM party, we are part of the broad-based government, and we will remain there until 2027; any further plans will be discussed after that,” he stated.
Arati highlighted that any forthcoming decisions about the party’s future will be determined once the current political arrangement comes to an end.
He also mentioned that the party is engaged in serious discussions to uphold Raila Odinga’s political presence in the Mount Kenya area and beyond, aiming to safeguard his legacy.
“We have come to a consensus as a party that Baba had numerous allies, including those from Central Kenya. Our goal is to ensure that we elect some leaders from this region and even from Rift Valley and North Eastern,” he stated.
Arati further noted that in the previous general election, Raila received over one million votes from the Mount Kenya region, and the party plans to sustain and expand that support base.
Earlier, the Kisii governor officially inaugurated the ODM county office in Nakuru to cater to the needs of the residents in the county, which boasts more than one million registered voters according to the 2022 IEBC register.
