Apostle Kimani, a preacher at Kingdom Seekers Church, has narrated the frightening experience of being stranded in Dubai during rising tensions between Israel and Iran. The preacher was among travellers who could not return home after flights were disrupted following the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
Travel plans across the region were affected after Israel reportedly launched new strikes against Iran, leading to increased security concerns and the closure of sections of regional airspace. As a result, airlines operating in the United Arab Emirates temporarily suspended several flights, leaving many travellers stranded while authorities reviewed safety conditions.
Kimani explained that he was in Dubai when the situation escalated, forcing him and other passengers to remain in the country longer than expected. He told his congregation that the uncertainty was worrying because travellers had to wait for official updates before making any plans to leave. According to him, many passengers closely monitored news reports while awaiting communication from airlines regarding the resumption of flights.
The preacher said he initially expected to travel back the following day, but the situation changed quickly, forcing him to wait for confirmation from airline officials. Eventually, he thanked God after he and others managed to return home safely once limited travel operations resumed.
The disruption also affected a group of Kenyan students from Olivine School who had travelled to Dubai for an educational trip. The learners were stranded after airspace restrictions halted flights across the region.
The students later described a frightening experience as they watched missile interceptions in the sky and sought shelter in bunkers during the tense period. After several days of uncertainty, the group finally returned to Kenya through a special repatriation flight operated by Kenya Airways.
