The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is seeking public assistance to locate its senior legal services manager, Esther Wairimu Keige, who has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.
In a missing person notice dated June 15, 2026, KFS called on the community to help find Keige, who last was seen on June 10, 2026, in the Juja area.
KFS encourages anyone who may have seen or interacted with Keige to report to the nearest police station or reach out via the emergency contact numbers provided.
“We ask the public to help us find our colleague, Ms. Esther Keige. Any information you have is valuable—please report it to the nearest police station or use the numbers below. Your assistance is greatly appreciated,” KFS stated.
To broaden the search, KFS shared several emergency contact numbers: 0719 483 323, 0722 809 878, 0722 791 139, and 0700 012 803.
Concerns are rising within KFS, as Keige’s disappearance impacts the agency’s vital role in managing Kenya’s forest resources. The legal services department is crucial for addressing legal and policy issues related to forest protection and environmental enforcement.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has also expressed concern, urging the public to assist in locating Keige. LSK President Charles Kanjama emphasized, “Every detail matters. We urge everyone to stay alert and share any information that could help find her. Please contact us at help@lsk.or.ke or use the numbers on the poster. Share widely.”
This incident highlights a troubling trend of missing persons, with authorities and human rights organizations noting numerous unresolved cases, including abductions. Children are increasingly among the victims, prompting Cabinet Secretary Hanna Wendot Cheptumo to urge immediate reporting of missing children to enhance rescue efforts and minimize risks.
