Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has confirmed the passing of Warina Rosemary, the county’s long-serving secretary. He praised her as a dedicated public servant who significantly contributed to the daily operations of the Governor’s office.
The governor did not share details regarding the cause of her death.
In a heartfelt tribute released on Wednesday, Kang’ata emphasized Rosemary’s professionalism and steadfastness throughout her career, noting the positive working relationship they enjoyed.
“We mourn the loss of Warina Rosemary, our long-serving secretary in the Governor’s office. For years, she embodied loyalty, discipline, and quiet grace. She provided the steady support behind our efforts and brought warmth to our long days,” he remarked.
Kang’ata, who has led Murang’a County since August 2022 following his tenure as a senator and Kiharu MP, characterized her passing as a profound loss for both his office and the broader county government.
He acknowledged that Rosemary’s contributions transcended routine administrative tasks, portraying her as a reliable figure who ensured continuity and stability within the office.
“Murang’a has lost a devoted public servant and a dear friend. To her family: thank you for sharing her with us. May you find strength in this difficult time, and may her soul rest in peace,” Kang’ata added.
Before Kang’ata’s administration, Rosemary held a similar role under former governor Mwangi wa Iria, who served the county for two terms from 2013 to 2022.
Her ability to adapt across different administrations highlighted her deep institutional knowledge and unwavering commitment to public service.
The news of her passing has deeply affected colleagues and members of the community who had the privilege of working with her over the years.
