The Government will enhance security measures and improve inter-agency coordination in preparation for the General Election on August 10, 2027. This proactive approach aims to identify and address any emerging threats well before polling day.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi assures citizens that the Government will protect Kenyans, electoral institutions, and critical infrastructure throughout the election period.
During a diplomatic briefing, Mudavadi emphasized that individuals who jeopardize peace and security will face legal consequences, regardless of their political affiliation or status.
He reiterated that national security, peace, and stability are the Government’s top priorities before, during, and after the elections.
Mudavadi also advocated for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to exercise its constitutional mandate independently and professionally, cautioning against attempts to undermine the electoral body’s credibility.
He called on all stakeholders to uphold and reinforce constitutional institutions, highlighting that democracy thrives on strong institutions and adherence to established rules.
“We all share the responsibility to uphold and strengthen our constitutional institutions. Democracy flourishes through robust institutions and respect for established regulations, rather than through individual interests,” stated Mudavadi.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary affirmed the Government’s commitment to facilitating a safe, free, and peaceful election by implementing initiatives like the National Cohesion and Integration Commission’s (NCIC) Roadmap to a Violence-Free 2027 General Election, titled Uchaguzi Bila Noma.
Additionally, Mudavadi encouraged diplomatic missions planning to send election observers to prepare in advance and comply with IEBC requirements for timely accreditation.
“We invite those wishing to bring election observers to start their preparations early to ensure timely accreditation and prevent any inconveniences that may arise from non-compliance,” he advised.
