Four Arrested in Nakuru Over Father’s Murder

In Bahati constituency, Nakuru County, authorities arrested four family members in connection with the murder of their elderly father, Peter Mwangi, aged 73. Mwangi succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault in his home on February 15.

Investigating officers recovered two blood-stained wooden rods at the crime scene, believed to have been used in the attack. They also discovered bloodstains on the floor and bed, with the evidence reportedly discarded in a pit latrine on the property.

Following these findings, police detained the victim’s two sons, wife, and daughter, all of whom are currently undergoing interrogation. The body has been transferred to the mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations and further procedures. The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this time.

In a separate incident in Ganze, Kilifi County, officials are probing the tragic death of an eight-year-old boy from suspected food poisoning. Nine other family members were hospitalized with severe stomach pains after consuming chapatis prepared for lunch on February 15. The family began experiencing symptoms shortly after eating, leading to their urgent hospitalization, where the young boy sadly passed away, while the others remain in stable condition. Authorities collected food samples for analysis as part of their investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, in Roreti, Bureti, Kericho County, a 19-year-old named Emmanuel Kiprotich was fatally stabbed during a land dispute with his cousin. The altercation escalated over a proposed lease of a parcel of land, resulting in a tragic turn of events. The assailant fled the scene with the weapon used in the attack, and police are actively searching for him to facilitate questioning and potential charges.

In Bondo, Siaya County, a suspect met a violent end when a mob stoned him to death during a failed robbery attempt involving a mobile phone. The suspect, who was riding as a pillion passenger along Koyucho-Gunda Sigomere road, attempted to snatch a mobile phone from a pedestrian on Sunday night. The alarm raised by the victim alerted local residents, who quickly intervened. The body has been moved to the mortuary for postmortem and identification procedures.
