Police commence Sakaja and Ndeti degrees probe

The Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate the authenticity of the academic credentials presented by Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and former CAS Wavinya Ndeti.

The probe follows the direction from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution Noordin Hajji asking the IGP to commence investigations. The DPP has asked the IG to broaden the scope of the investigation of academic and testimonial claims by all other political candidates suspected of forging academic papers.

“In addition the DPP has directed the IG to investigate the role of other government agencies and or commissions to determine whether they helped or assisted in the commission or omissions with the issuance of clearance certificates pursuant to section 22 of the Elections Act 2011, Section 6 and section 19 of the Elections Offenses Act 2016, Section 13 of the Leadership and Integrity Act 2012, and Section 47 A of the Anti Corruption and Economic Crimes Act 2003.” says a press release from the ODPP.
