Alai Slams Nairobi Billboard Chaos, Accuses Sakaja’s Team of Abuse of Power

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai has spoken out firmly against what he terms a misuse of authority and area in Nairobi, criticizing the rapid proliferation of enormous billboards near housing zones.

In a message shared on X on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Alai depicted a sense of annoyance that many urban dwellers can recognize, awakening to discover their tranquil vicinities overshadowed by massive promotional structures.

“You retire for the night knowing that your elderly kin is constantly enjoying the daylight in the early hours. You awaken and discover Sakaja’s group has put up a huge billboard obstructing the sun and your outlook,” Alai penned.

His message emphasized what he called harassment and impunity from persons supposedly linked to high-ranking state officials. As per Alai, one of the billboard proprietors asserted having influential ties and even menaced inhabitants who dared to challenge the action.
“The proprietor asserts he is the relative of a cabinet secretary and openly intimidates residents with firearms. You contact the authorities and discover that the scoundrel is being aided in the cruel plan by the OCS from a precinct,” he further stated.

Alai’s comment mirrors mounting worries among Nairobi residents about what they perceive as a disrespect for residential tranquility and security, with communal areas and neighborhood vistas increasingly seized by commercial agendas.

He proceeded to demand a cessation to what he described as “visual disorder” in the metropolis, blaming the Nairobi County Executive for being central to the issue.

“We request an end to the visual disorder in Nairobi. We possess a dishonest Nairobi executive that has grasped the governance of the assembly,” Alai declared.

The MCA’s observations have ignited discussions on the internet, with numerous residents voicing his vexations regarding uncontrolled billboards that impede daylight, damage the city’s appearance, and seem to favor certain politically allied persons.

Alai’s post supports the rising public call for structure, responsibility, and equity in the stewardship of Nairobi’s communal grounds.
