Prime suspect arrested in murder of “Akoko the Billionaire” in Kibra

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kibra have arrested Brian Otieno Maurice, the prime suspect in the murder of Sospeter Osunga, known as ‘Akoko the Billionaire.’ The arrest follows a violent incident that occurred on November 18, 2024.

On the day of the attack, Akoko Billionaire was assaulted by a group of assailants in the Ayani area, suffering fatal injuries to his back believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.

Following extensive investigations, three individuals were initially detained, providing crucial information that ultimately led to Maurice’s arrest. He is expected to be presented in court on Monday.

The DCI has urged the public to promote peace and refrain from unnecessary violence, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining safety and security.

The investigation continues as authorities work to gather further evidence in this high-profile case. Akoko was a 23 year old student pursuing architecture at the Kirinyaga university. While here, the young man became a darling to many students who admired his lavish lifestyle having become an overnight millionaire.

So philanthropic was Akoko that he could visit clubs and shower performing artists with thousands of cash on stage.
