Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has announced that doctors have called off their planned strike following the signing of a new agreement with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), the Ministry of Health, and the Council of Governors (CoG).
In a statement on his X account, Kindiki emphasized the government’s appreciation for the expertise and dedication of health workers across the country, asserting that the health of every Kenyan is a priority for the Kenya Kwanza Administration. He commended the doctors for their selfless decision to suspend the intended industrial action and their commitment to ongoing dialogue with national and county governments.
The agreement was signed at the Deputy President’s official residence in Karen, Nairobi, preventing a strike that was scheduled to begin next week. This development is expected to foster collaboration and consensus-building between medical professionals and government officials, ultimately benefiting healthcare services across Kenya.
