Wazito sip Tusker as K’ogalo overcome Ulinzi Stars

Wazito were too heavy for Tusker FC, after they beat the brewers 2-1 to hand K’ogalo glorious chance of winning this year’s KPL trophy.

In other matches, Gor Mahia outclassed Ulinzi Stars 2-0 at Kasarani stadium, in what some fans termed as ‘KDF derby’ (Gor Mahia call themselves Sirkal, or K’ogalo Defense Forces, while Ulinzi are the official Kenya Defense Forces representatives in the local top flight soccer league.

These results mean that Gor Mahia have now dislodged Tusker from the summit of the table by two points, with only two games remaining for both clubs to the end of the season. Gor Mahia’s goals were scored by Austin Odhiambo and John Macharia.

K’ogalo now heads the KPL table with 67 points, ahead of Tusker who have 65, and in the second position. Wazitto’s goals were scored by Collins Netto, who netted at either halves of the game, while Tusker’s consolation goal was from Charles Momanyi, who was formerly a Gor Mahia player.

In the remaining matches, Gor Mahia have a tricky outing against Kakamega Homeboys, and then they wrap up the season with a date with City Stars.

On the other side, Tusker have an outing against Vihiga Bullets – which today beat AFC Leopards 2-1 – and then the brewers end the season with an outing against Poster Rangers.

No team will want to lose even a single point – out of the possible six points that are up for grabs for the top two competing teams. Tusker is less advantaged both on points earned, and goal aggregate, while K’ogalo have a comfortable gaol difference that would still earn them the trophy even if they tie with Tusker on the number of points accumulated.
