Wazito frustrate Gor Mahia as Tusker edge closer

Gor Mahia’s player (in white with green outfit) goes for the ball against Wazito FC players. The game ended in a barren draw.

Moses Adagala’s Wazito FC managed to frustrate Gor Mahia in Muhoroni when the two teams settled for a barren draw.

The draw, on the other part of the country (in Ruaraka sports grounds), was a welcome scoreline to Tusker who are not giving Gor Mahia any breathing space at the summit of the league. In that encounter, the brewers overwhelmed Kakamega Homeboys by a solitary first half goal. That means that the top two clubs have two points standing between them at the summit of the table.

After Wazito managed to frustrate Gor Mahia in Kisumu, the highly awaited fixture will be in the coming weekend, when the whole country will be treated to a mouthwatering derby, popularly known as ‘Mashemeji derby’ – loosely translated as a ‘derby of the in-laws’. This is an encounter that will be very pivotal for K’ogalo as they are still having another mountain to climb when they face Tusker FC in not so long from now.

Today’s results mean that Gor Mahia now have 53 points, two points ahead of last season’s winners Tusker FC. In another encounter, AFC Leopards mauled sugar millers – Nzoia Sugar – by a solitary goal. The scoreline – needless to say – has given Ingwe the requisite impetus to wait for their encounter with Gor Mahia on 14 of May, next weekend.
