EACC detectives raid Waiguru’s homes and offices

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) detectives raided Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru’s offices and homes in Nairobi and Kirinyaga, Thursday August 20.

The EACC officials confirmed that they had search warrant to aid in the investigation of irregular payment of 23million Shillings travel allowance to the governor.

Twalib Mbarak the CEO at Ethics and anti-corruption commission explained that 23million Shillings was spent on fake trips that never existed.

Governor Waiguru’s investigations started way back in June following her impeachment over the abuse of office and constitutional violation.

Earlier June, the EACC regional manager (Centra region) had reported that one of the cases involved was a number of tender awards influenced by the governor.

Kirinyaga members of county assembly had voted to impeach governor Waiguru over the abuse of the office, violation of the constitution among other misconducts.
