United win against Everton in late night kick-off

Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo (number 7), challenges his Everton FC

United survived a late onslaught from their host Everton FC to carry home three points after winning against the toffies 2-1.

The game started with the Toffees dictating the first ten minutes of the first, which then resulted in Alex Iwobi’s opener in the fifth minute of the the game. United looked completely overwhelmed when the host side ringfenced their goal mouth, stopping the trio of Rashford, Antony Matial and the new winger from Ajax, Antony, from penetrating it.

However, it didn’t take long before Everton’s defence was torn apart when Marital set Antony with defence-slitting pass which the Brazilian winger slotted home with a left foot past England custodian Jordan Pickford.

Everton side started to lose concentration when United denied them the ball at the middle of the pitch, having been manned by another Brazilian midfield stalwart Casemiro, alongside Danish playmaker Christian Ericksen.

This is the first to league game that United has won since last Sunday when they were given a hiding by their neighbours Manchester City in a 6-3 rout.

Another goal, scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, must have disorganized Everton FC. The Portuguese captain picked a paneled pass from Casemiro, which he ran with to slot another one past Pickford.

Antony now becomes the first player to score three goals in three league games he started. The first one came against Arsenal FC, before the other one that he put past Manchester City goalkeeper.
The game ended with 2-1 in favour of United.
