Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged youthful movement, known for its abrasive criticism of Ruto-led government, Gen Zs, to fight for their rights.
The former President, who was captured in a video doing rounds on social media, was addressing a meeting at an unknown location when he said that Gen Zs are still energetic and are therefore well positioned to put the current administration on its toes.
The video was shared by Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai on his Facebook page. The current ward representative, in the Facebook post, claimed that Uhuru has got no temerity to push Gen Zs to oppose the government, claiming that the former Kenyan head of state has got his people in the current government, which he is vehemently opposing.
Recently, President William Ruto made changes in his Cabinet by incorporating individuals believed to be close allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The individuals were William Kabogo, Lee Kinyanjui and former Cabinet Secretary for health Mutahi Kagwe. It’s therefore believed that Uhuru’s hand was behind the changes, because a few weeks earlier, President Ruto had paid his predicrssor a visit at the latter’s home in Ishaweri.
In the video, the former President is head telling the youth movement that they (the older generation) are behind them.
