
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced the successful conclusion of the Repeat Phase III grassroots elections organized by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) across 18 counties.
On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Kindiki shared this news via his official X account shortly after addressing the media at Hustler Plaza. He emphasized that the party executed the elections peacefully and efficiently, marking a significant advancement in fortifying its grassroots structures nationwide.
The elections took place in Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, Kericho, Bomet, and Vihiga counties.
“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has successfully conducted Repeat Phase III Grassroots Elections in 18 counties, including Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Laikipia, Kericho, Bomet, and Vihiga,” Kindiki stated.
He reported that the elections saw an impressive turnout, with over 500,000 candidates registering to compete for 20 different grassroots positions across 8,819 polling centers. These positions were designated for representatives from various groups, including women, youth, special interest groups, farmers, religious organizations, professionals, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and traders.
Kindiki highlighted that the elections utilized electronic voting, resulting in the election of 150,000 grassroots officials, each empowered by a direct mandate from party members.
“Over 500,000 candidates registered to contest for the twenty (20) positions at the 8,819 Polling Centres, representing Women, Youth, Special Interest Groups, Farmers, Religious groups, Professionals, and MSMEs/traders,” he elaborated on X.
“The electronically conducted exercise proceeded smoothly and peacefully, culminating in the election of 150,000 grassroots officials with a direct mandate from the people.”
He underscored that the successful execution of these elections reflects the party’s dedication to enhancing internal democracy and expanding its grassroots presence throughout the nation.
UDA has been systematically conducting grassroots elections in phases as part of its initiative to reorganize and bolster its structures from the polling station level in preparation for the 2027 General Election.
