
Police in Homa Bay County arrested seven employees of Dalawa Hotel and Restaurant on Friday following the death of Paul Sunday, a fourth-year student at Tom Mboya University.
The suspects—Jacob Okeyo Omollo, Baraka Odhiambo Jude, Monica Atieno, David Ochieng, Arnoder Atieno, Kennedy Ouma Otieno, and Pamela Onyango Otieno—were apprehended after Sunday was discovered severely beaten, stripped naked, and bound inside the establishment.
The incident came to light when a Homa Bay County Enforcement Officer visited the restaurant and reported seeing a commotion. According to a police report, the officer found Sunday tied with ropes, naked, and suffering from multiple injuries. “He was bleeding profusely; they rescued and rushed him to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries,” the report stated.
The victim’s body has been processed by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers and preserved in the hospital morgue pending an autopsy.
The seven suspects remain in custody and are expected to be arraigned on Monday as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The community is in shock over the brutality of the crime, raising concerns about safety and accountability in local establishments.
