Ruto’s Unity Calls, Pledges Ksh50bn Development Plan for Kisumu

President William Ruto has emphasized the necessity of national unity, asserting that the prosperity and development of the nation hinge on an inclusive government that ensures no region is neglected.

In a statement shared on his X account on January 30, 2026, after engaging with residents in Kisumu at Kondele and Kisumu City, President Ruto highlighted national unity and inclusivity as essential components for achieving equitable development throughout the country.

“The people of Kisumu have made their desires clear: they seek development, prosperity, and opportunities that extend to every household and neighborhood. They yearn to be part of a government that uplifts everyone and leaves no region behind. We are committed to building that future together,” Ruto declared.

The President articulated his vision for a unified Kenya, where every community and region contributes meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

“Our collective mission is to foster a united and inclusive nation, where every community has a voice, every region holds value, and every citizen shares in our common destiny,” he stated.

Ruto expressed his appreciation to the people of Kisumu for their warm hospitality during his visit.

“Thank you, Kisumu, for your welcoming spirit, your vibrant energy, and your unwavering faith. I hold you in high regard,” he added.

In addition, Ruto outlined a comprehensive transformation plan for Kisumu County that aligns with the broader national economic strategy.

“We have devised a robust plan to elevate Kisumu as part of our overarching goal to transition the country into a first-world economy. Specifically for Kisumu County, we have allocated Ksh44 billion to deliver 14,000 affordable housing units, establish 20 modern markets, and provide student hostels for 10,200 learners, which will create over 15,000 jobs for young people,” he said.

President Ruto also announced further investments in infrastructure and sports facilities.

“We have earmarked an additional Ksh5 billion for road development throughout the county and Ksh950 million to modernize Moi Stadium into a state-of-the-art facility,” he stated.
