Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru this morning defected to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ending weeks of speculations that started when she said she was consulting the Kirinyaga residents to show her which party she should join.
The governor accompanied by 30 MCAs from Kirinyaga County held a closed door meeting with Deputy President William Ruto at his official Karen Residence before making the announcement.
The governor had recently indicated that she could ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp and formally join Ruto’s “hustler nation movement”.
“I can not try to be ignorant and go against my people. I can’t vote myself in, I am listening to what they want” said Waiguru
