
President William Ruto has posthumously conferred the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga with the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.), the highest honour awarded to a Kenyan citizen.
The recognition, which represents the pinnacle of national accolades, came just less than a day since his interrment in Bondo, yesterday. The title is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to the nation.
Raila, who was laid to rest yesterday at his father’s home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County, and was honoured for his lifelong dedication to public service, democracy, and social justice. “The government and people of Kenya inscribe Hon. Raila Odinga’s name among the foremost of our heroes, under the public seal of the Republic,” President Ruto said. “On behalf of a grateful nation, and through the authority vested in me as President, I have today posthumously conferred upon the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga the highest honour of the Republic—the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (C.G.H.),” he added.
The late Raila Odinga will be remembered as a tireless advocate for democracy, equity, and the rights of ordinary citizens—an enduring symbol of courage, patriotism, and service to the nation.
