Ruto orders joint KDF-Police exercise in the North Rift

President William Ruto has ordered a joint security exercise between the National Police Service and the Kenya Defence Forces as the government ramps up the fight against banditry in the troubled North Rift region.

Speaking to local leaders from the Nakuru State Lodge on Monday, the Head of State also announced a three-day voluntary disarmament exercise starting tomorrow to allow the surrender of all illegal guns.

This order follows the President’s direction to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to relocate to the region until normalcy returns to the area.

Cattle rustlers and bandits have wrecked havoc in the region leading to loss of lives. Last week 8 people including three police officers were killed by bandits piling pressure on the government to act on the matter.
