President William Ruto has urged parents to take an active role in instilling moral values in their children to combat increasing crime rates and social issues in Kenya.
Speaking at a wedding ceremony in Mombasa, the President emphasized that merely blaming others will not address critical problems such as femicide and drug trafficking.
“Parents must shoulder their responsibility in shaping the moral character of their children, as the government cannot substitute this crucial role,” Ruto stated. He highlighted that many criminals originate from homes, stressing the need for parental guidance to prevent youth from becoming offenders.
The President reassured Kenyans of the government’s commitment to providing essential services such as education and healthcare while maintaining a firm stance against crime. “We will intervene firmly to deal with criminals—those who kill, engage in drug trafficking, femicide, and other unlawful acts,” he declared.
Ruto’s remarks underscored the shared responsibility between parents and the government in fostering a morally upright society. He called for collective action to secure a brighter future for the nation, emphasizing that building a safer environment requires collaboration at all levels.
