Criminal investigation officers in Nyamira are investigating a mysterious and heinous murder act of a mother and her two daughters.
The crime took place on Monday night.
Nyamira North DCC, Simon Osumba, confirmed to press that three bodies, which were initially unidentified early on Tuesday morning, were later moved to the mortuary after preliminary investigations by DCI officers identified them and confirmed that they belonged to the same family.
The bodies of the trio Jane Nyaboke, 52, Edna Monyangi, 38, and Lorna Kerubo, 35 were discovered at Gitaru area in Borabu Sub County, Nyakongo area in Kitutu Masaba Sub County, and Motagara area in Nyamira South Sub County – though their home is at Nyasio, Itibo ward in Nyamira North sub-County.
Mrs Lorna Mokaya, a daughter-in-law of the deceased mother, said that her mother-in-law, accompanied by her daughter Edna, had left home Monday evening to visit her sister who lives in Nyaware sub location in Borabu sub county, not far from their home.
They had communicated with Lorna, Edna’s sibling, to also join them in their visit plans, hopefully, returning home on Tuesday only for their bodies to be discovered dumped separately in ditches the following day.
DCC Osumba told the press that the bodies had sharp, deep cuts on their necks, and investigation officers highly suspect that the three were killed at a different place and their bodies dumped in varied places, probably to conceal the exact place of the hineous act.
“Officers from DCI in Nyamira have embarked on a serious investigation to bring the perpetrators to book. Though no suspect in relation to this incident has been arrested,” Osumba said.
“The officers are closely linking up information they are collecting and will soon know who is behind the murders and their motive. I urge residents of Nyasio to be calm as investigation officers do their work,” Osumba added.
