Azimio presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga on Saturday 23rd July 2022 led his team to campaign in Murang’a Town.
The rally came a few days after Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria who unsuccessfully sought to run for President on Usawa kwa Wote party threw his weight behind Odinga’s candidature.
The Muranga Governor joined forces with Odinga on July 19 saying they both share the same ideologies and aspirations for the Kenyan people. “When I was in trouble it is Odinga who reached out and asked me what was the problem,” Wa Iria said in reference to his botched attempt to vie for presidency in August. Wa Iria said he has 600,021 voters which he will deliver to the Azimio presidential candidate.
During the rally the former Prime Mnister hosted Prof. Ngotho wa Kariuki and Prof. Maina Kiongo with whom he was detained. “We endured years in the detention cells together and we’ve kept in touch since then with my long time compadres, Prof. Ngotho Wa Kariuki and Prof. Maina Kiongo. They’ll be coming with us to the big house we are building called Kenya mpya.” Raila tweeted during the rally
