Prison Break: Manhunt underway for Escapees from Wundanyi prison

Authorities in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County, have launched a comprehensive manhunt for eight remandees who escaped from Wundanyi Prison on Saturday night.

The escapees have been identified as Patrick Karisa, Erickson Mwachofi, Alex Makexi, Edward Maighasho, Robert Muchugwa, Mwangemi Mwanyange, Joseph Kalama, and Samuel Onyango.

The prisoners, aged between 18 and 39, were facing serious charges including rape, defilement, sexual assault, and housebreaking. Reports indicate that they made their escape around 11:30 p.m. by cutting through the iron sheets on the rooftop of Ward 3.

Law enforcement officials are urging the public to assist in the search by providing any information that could lead to the capture of the fugitives.

Authorities have reassured the community that all necessary measures are being implemented to recapture the escapees and have encouraged anyone with credible information to contact their nearest police station.
