President Ruto donates 1 million to the family of the late comedian KK Mwenyewe

In a show of solidarity and respect, President William Ruto has contributed Ksh1 million towards the funeral arrangements of the beloved comedian Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as KK Mwenyewe. Senior State House official Dennis Itumbi shared this news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, highlighting the President’s generous gesture.

According to Itumbi, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika also made a significant contribution, donating Ksh200,000. Other prominent leaders, including Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah and Lari Member of Parliament Mburu Kahangara, also extended their support through monetary contributions.

Itumbi expressed his appreciation for the donations during a candlelighting event held on Monday, July 21, where content creators gathered to honor the late comedian. “Thank you, President Ruto, for contributing Ksh1 million to assist in KK Mwenyewe funeral. Thanks to MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika for their support. Also, a thank you to MP Mburu Kahangara. Rest in peace, Ndugu,” Itumbi posted.

He also paid tribute to KK Mwenyewe, noting, “KK, go make them laugh even harder in heaven.” The candlelighting event was organized by the local content creator community to celebrate the comedian’s life and the laughter he brought to many.

Itumbi raised a pertinent question about the future of monetization for content creators after they pass on, emphasizing the need for a system to designate next of kin and manage their digital assets.

KK Mwenyewe, renowned for his hilarious impersonations of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, passed away on Monday, July 14, at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital after a brief illness. His death has left a void in the local comedy scene, but his legacy continues to bring smiles and laughter to many.
