Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has firmly rebuffed critics of President William Ruto, asserting that calls for his ouster are futile.
Speaking at a rally in Kibirech, Elgeyo Marakwet County, on Thursday, Sudi ridiculed online detractors, referring to them as “wakora” and emphasizing that despite their “noise,” the President is not going anywhere.
Sudi addressed the crowd with humor, mocking the viral slogan “Ruto must go.” He stated, “Si mnajua wale wakora wa mtandao kule Nairobi? Wanapiga kelele ati sijui Ruto must go? Si mlisikia niliwaambia jana, waruke juu, waende chini, waende kando, hakuna penye Ruto anaenda,” which translates to, “Do you know those online crooks in Nairobi? They are making noise saying Ruto must go? Didn’t I tell you yesterday, let them jump up, down, or aside, there’s no place Ruto is going.”
The MP further asserted that leadership should not be seen as an entitlement, insisting that anyone has the potential to be President. He encouraged the residents of North Rift to consider him as a future candidate for the top position, saying, “Hapana! Ata Mluhya, Mturkana anaweza ongoza; Mkenya yeyote ako na uwezo wa kuongoza. Si ata mimi mtanitanipa rais siku ingine?” translating to, “No! Even a Luhya or Turkana can lead; any Kenyan has the capacity to lead. Will you not elect me as President one day?”
Sudi’s comments come amid growing political unrest and dissatisfaction with President Ruto’s administration. Following last year’s Gen Z-led anti-government protests, a movement has emerged on social media calling for the President’s removal, with hashtags like #RutoMustGo gaining traction on various platforms.
