Newton Karish Thanks Mbeere North Residents After Poll Loss

Newton Karish, the Democratic Party (DP) candidate for Mbeere North, has released a message to the local residents following his defeat in the parliamentary election. He conveyed profound appreciation and reiterated his dedication to serving the constituency, after the by-election held on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

In a thoughtful statement published on Friday, December 5, 2025, Karish commended the residents for their cohesion, fortitude, and unwavering commitment to the area’s development.

This announcement was made soon after his primary competitor, Leo Wamuthende Njeru of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), along with five other newly elected Members of Parliament, were formally sworn into the National Assembly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Speaking to the constituents, Karish recognized the significant confidence and backing demonstrated through their votes, stating that the collective aspirations of the populace continue to fuel his commitment.

He conveyed gratitude for the electoral opportunity and the immense trust placed in him, stressing that all accomplishments to date mirror the resolve and enduring spirit of Mbeere North.

Karish further honored all sections of the populace—including farmers, youth, women, and elders—for their contributions to developing a more resilient constituency. He underscored the importance of solidarity, observing that Mbeere North has once more demonstrated that collective effort can overcome any obstacle.

Subsequent to the by-election, Newton Karish appealed to Mbeere North residents to maintain composure, peace, and patience as efforts are made to address the electoral results through appropriate channels. This plea for restraint is particularly relevant given the potentially heightened emotions within the constituency.

Anticipating the future, the former parliamentary candidate reiterated his resolve to lead with modesty, integrity, and devotion. He voiced a hopeful outlook for a more prosperous and inclusive future, promising to persist in his endeavors for development that will benefit successive generations.

“Let us continue to build a more robust, prosperous, and integrated Mbeere North,” he declared, acknowledging the community’s collective efforts and contributions.

Concurrently, following Karish’s electoral defeat to Wamuthende, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who also heads the Citizens for the Democracy Party (DCP), publicly disassociated himself from the outcome, despite having actively campaigned for the DP candidate.
