Natembeya Responds to Ichung’wah’s allegations over deaths and abductions

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has firmly rebutted claims made by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who linked him to deaths and abductions during his time as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner in the previous administration.

In a strongly worded statement released on Friday evening, Natembeya condemned Ichung’wah’s verbal attacks as “senseless and shameful.” He vehemently denied any involvement in the incidents surrounding bodies found dumped in River Yala in 2022, asserting that his time as Regional Commissioner was scandal-free and that he retired without any blemishes on his record.

Ichung’wah had previously stated, “You were a Regional Commissioner when hundreds of people were kidnapped, abducted, and killed in Kerio Valley and dumped here in River Yala. Did you not care about the lives of the citizens then?”

The lawmaker further alleged that the former Deputy President, who he claimed was Natembeya’s political ally, orchestrated the abductions to frame current President William Ruto.

In response, Natembeya emphasized his commitment to public service and distanced himself from any actions that could be construed as complicity in the alleged crimes. He called for political discourse to focus on constructive dialogue rather than unfounded accusations, urging leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people they serve.
