Mystery Skeleton in Nyambene Forest as Police Probe Deaths

Detectives in Igembe Central, Meru County, are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton hanging from a tree in Nyambene Forest.

A Kenya Forest Service officer found the remains deep within the forest. Police and other officials confirmed the finding at the scene.

Authorities reported that the body had decomposed significantly, leaving only the skeleton. The remains, believed to have been at the site for several months, were found suspended from a tree with a cloth tied around the neck. Some limbs were missing, and the gender of the deceased remains undetermined.

Investigators processed the scene before transporting the remains to Nyambene Sub-County mortuary for forensic analysis and identification. Ongoing investigations aim to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of their death.

In a separate case, police are investigating the death of a middle-aged man found in a maize plantation in Narok North Sub-County.

Simon Longisa Taek, a 40-year-old resident of Kisiriri Village, was discovered on Thursday afternoon in the Enabelbel area. Police confirmed his death at the scene, noting the absence of visible physical injuries.

Authorities documented the scene before transferring the body to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. Detectives from DCI Narok North are leading the investigation.

Additionally, two drowning incidents were reported in Baringo and Vihiga counties.

Police revealed that one victim was an 86-year-old woman found floating in the Etsava River in Vihiga County. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary pending further procedures.
