Political commentator Mutahi Ngunyi has slammed Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of getting into bed with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua despite what Ngunyi sees as obvious political dangers.
On Monday, December 1, 2025, Ngunyi expressed doubts about Kalonzo’s decision-making, suggesting Gachagua is pushing an ethnic-focused political agenda that could turn off other communities.
Ngunyi quoted Gachagua as saying, “Gachagua wants 16 out of the 17 seats in Nairobi for Kikuyus. Then he wants 50% of the government for Kikuyus.”
Ngunyi also stated that former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu had cautioned Kalonzo that Gachagua is unpredictable. He added that the developing Broad-Based Government (BBG) coalition is already forming in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
“The BBG coalition is ready for 2027. And Kalonzo is STILL messing around with a PSYCHO. Smart???” he asked.
This follows Kalonzo Musyoka’s announcement the previous day that the United Opposition would sue to contest the results of the Mbeere North by-election, asserting that the outcome was rigged.
Speaking on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Kalonzo rejected the idea that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) had won both the Malava and Mbeere North by-elections, claiming the ruling party knew it hadn’t won legitimately.
Kalonzo alleged that there was direct meddling in the Mbeere North vote, claiming that powerful phone calls were made during the counting of ballots.
The Wiper party leader mentioned that they have collected enough proof to back a legal challenge.
He stated, “UDA did not win in Malava and Mbeere; they know that. We have proof that phone calls were made to Mbeere; that was direct interference. So, we are going to take a serious approach to this. Not just the country, the whole world knows he didn’t win. We will file a clear, strong petition.”
Kalonzo mentioned that both local and international observers knew about what he called a messed-up process. He said that the Wiper party’s lawyers would submit their case soon, hoping to reverse the election results and get the electoral officials to explain themselves.
