Former Cabinet Secretary for Trade Moses Kuria has come out to advise Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino that he risks being brought down by blogger Maverick Aoko.
The former Gatundu South legislature further insisted that there’s no politician who is eyeing Nairobi governor seat that is going to bring Babu Owino down, but Maverick Aoko. Maverick Aoko has used her social media handles to write many sensesional posts, and going ahead to depicting Babu Owino as her close buddy.
Recently, Aoko sensesional claimed that Ida Odinga, the wife to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga — who passed on just two months ago — has been having an illicit affairs with a youthful political activist Okoth Gaucho. In the same post, Maverick Aoko tagged Babu Owino as her best friend, and that no one should touch him (Babu).
Babu Owino has expressed interest in vying for Nairobi Gubernatorial seat, and many people are seeing him as frontrunner — with high chances of dislodging the incumbent, Johnson Sakaja. The same seat has attracted Moses Kuria, who recently expressed his interest too.
To this far, Ida hasn’t said anything concerning the allegations written by Aoko.
Ida Odinga is known as one of the most influencual figures whose decisions and opinions shaped Raila’s political life, a career that spanned for almost fourty years. Interestingly, no senior politician from any side of the political divide, other than Moses Kuria, has come out to comment on such grave allegations by Aoko.
Babu Owino, on his part, came out but didn’t deny camaraderie with Maverick Aoko. However, he vehemently denied sending Aoko to say whatever she’s been saying about politicians that are seen to be pulling on the opposite side with Babu.
There have been rumours doing rounds that Maverick Aoko could just be a gun for hire, being used by Babu Owino to hit out at his real or imagined political nemeses. Owino has since denied such a move, insisting that he respects mama Ida Odinga as her mother, clarifying that whenever he checks in at mama Ida’s home, she always treats him like one of her sons, and even prepare food for him.
