Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo described Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s behavior at a recent Orange Democratic Movement meeting. She said the party secretary-general acted in a fully reconciliatory way.
She spoke in an interview on Sunday, January 11, 2026. This came two days after the meeting. It gathered some ODM leaders who opposed the party’s political path.
Attendees included Siaya Governor James Orengo. Others were Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, and ex-Busia Senator Amos Wako.
Odhiambo noted Sifuna’s change. He had been outspoken and clashed with some leaders. At the meeting, he stayed calm and aimed only at reconciliation.
She added a good point. Before the meeting, Sifuna had shown readiness to ease his tough views. He wanted talks with those he criticized. He also met party leader Oburu Odinga and Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga.
Odhiambo said the meeting showed Sifuna calm and steady. He stressed unity in the Orange Party. He has served as secretary-general for 10 years.
By then, Sifuna had met the party leader and Mama Ida. He acted like a true reconciler as senator and secretary-general. He skipped harsh words. His focus stayed on unity.
Sifuna’s conduct
Odhiambo said the meeting was a simple sit-and-talk. Sifuna repeated his earlier stance. He may have shared it at ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s birthday in Karen. He affirmed his wish to talk and reconcile with leaders he had attacked.
He stressed the point he made with Mama. No matter the past barbs, he stood ready to sit and discuss with party members, Odhiambo said.
She added the meeting aimed to build peace and unity in ODM. It was no secret event. They held it openly at Nairobi View hotel.
