
Police are currently investigating a tragic incident in the Ndanai area of Sotik, Bomet County, where a 29-year-old man fatally stabbed his 32-year-old uncle. The suspect allegedly confronted his uncle, Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, accusing him of cohabiting with his mother, leading to a violent altercation.
Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga reported that the suspect ambushed Bett, inflicting a stab wound to the cheek and fatal injuries to the neck, resulting in the uncle’s death at the scene. Despite the intervention of the suspect’s mother, who sought to de-escalate the confrontation, her efforts proved futile due to her son’s intense anger over the allegations against his uncle.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene, leaving his uncle fatally injured. Authorities subsequently transported the body to the mortuary, citing the incident’s occurrence on January 27. Police are actively pursuing the suspect for questioning and potential charges of murder. Investigators have also engaged with the mother as part of their inquiry.
In a separate incident in Oljororok, Nyandarua County, authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, identified as 28-year-old Judy Chepngeno, in a village within Bureti, Kericho County. This tragic event unfolded on January 24, prompting police to detain the suspect as they prepare for arraignment.
Meanwhile, in the Olkalou area of Nyandarua County, police discovered a human leg floating in the Malewa River, later confirmed to belong to a woman who had been murdered in the vicinity. The leg has been sent to the mortuary for autopsy and further examination, and a suspect has been apprehended in relation to this crime.
In Kilifi’s Kaloleni area, authorities found 65-year-old Kahindi Kazungu strangled in his home, with the motive for the murder remaining unclear. Police reported an injury to the right eye and moved the body to the mortuary for further investigation, noting a concerning trend of such violent incidents linked to land disputes in the region.
Additionally, in the Mangawani area of Shimba Hills, Kwale County, police discovered the body of 45-year-old Nyamawi Mbovu, who had been brutally attacked in his home. The victim was found in a pool of blood with a deep neck wound, and the motive for the murder remains unknown. Authorities have taken the body to the mortuary while they continue their investigation.
Lastly, a herder suffered serious injuries during a cattle rustling incident in Isiolo Town, where a gang of bandits stole 306 shoats on the evening of January 26. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to both the hand and head and was urgently transported to the hospital. In response, police have initiated a major operation in the area to recover the stolen livestock, as the region continues to grapple with the persistent issue of cattle rustling.
