In Migori County, authorities apprehended a 32-year-old man after the body of a woman, identified as his wife, was discovered buried in a shallow grave near their home in Suna East Sub-County.
On September 28, 2026, neighbors at Kanyamdura Village noticed freshly dug soil behind the toilet at her husband’s residence, leading to the discovery of Everline Odongo’s body. The community grew concerned when Everline had not been seen since September 25, following a reported quarrel with her husband around 4:30 PM.
Before the police arrived, members of the public unearthed the soil, revealing the body, which was wrapped in a sack. Police conducted a search of the house and found bloodstains on a wall and beneath a bed as they continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities noted a deep injury on Everline’s right cheek, likely caused by a sharp object. Investigators revealed that the couple had been living together for approximately one month. The body has been transferred to the Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
The man remains in police custody as the investigation unfolds.
In a separate incident, a 49-year-old man, missing for over a week, was found deceased in a bushy area in Keremeke Village, Kambadi Location, Chuka North Sub-County, Tharaka-Nithi County.
The remains of Alfred Mwenda Paston were discovered on September 28, 2026, after he was reported missing on September 17. Police officers responded to the scene and located his remains, which included his skull and other body parts, some of which appeared to have been scavenged by wild dogs still in the area.
His mother identified him by his clothing, including trousers, a shirt, and gumboots found at the scene. Investigators meticulously processed the area and collected relevant evidence for further examination. The remains were taken to the Chuka Referral Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination to determine the circumstances of his death.
