Authorities believe that the murder of the 37-year-old man, Hezron Nyamburi, is connected to a previous homicide in which he served as a key witness.

Nyamburi testified in the murder case of Dennis Ambrose Achieng, aged 75, which occurred on November 14, 2025, along Orengo-Gul Min Ougo Road, as reported by the police on Sunday.

Three suspects were arrested and presented in court on a miscellaneous application but were subsequently released on a cash bail of Sh100,000, pending their plea on January 19, 2026.

On the afternoon of January 16, 2026, unknown assailants abducted Nyamburi from his residence, leading to his tragic death. His body was later discovered in a swamp in Ndati village, as confirmed by the police.

Witnesses reported that he was forcibly taken away on a motorcycle.

The police responded to the scene, recovering the body and transporting it to the mortuary for an autopsy and further procedures.

In the Kemera area of Nyamira County, a night guard was fatally attacked during a robbery at a local bar.

The victim, identified as Charles Mokaya, aged 55, was discovered lying in a pool of blood long after the incident at Riverside Bar in the local trading center.

The guard was on duty when he was assaulted on the night of January 16, according to police reports.

The assailants stole alcohol from the bar before fleeing the scene. Police have transported the body to the mortuary for an autopsy.
