A tragic domestic dispute over just Sh200 resulted in the death of a 28-year-old woman in Kyuso Sub-County, Kitui County. Detectives have detained a 23-year-old man, who allegedly became violent during a quarrel with his sister, Mwende Mawia, at their family home on April 6.
According to police, the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the suspect punched Mwende in the chest. She collapsed and began vomiting, prompting family members to rush her to a private health facility at Ngomeni shopping center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, and her body has been moved to the Kyuso Level IV Sub-County Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The suspect remains in custody and will face court proceedings as investigations continue.
Authorities urge the public to resolve conflicts peacefully, warning against allowing minor disagreements to escalate into violence.
In a separate incident in Kisumu County, police are searching for two suspects involved in the fatal stabbing of 48-year-old Elizabeth Adhiambo Yogo in the Manyatta “B” slum estate. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack occurred inside her rented house, allegedly perpetrated by her male companion.
The relationship between the victim and the suspect, which began in 2018, may have been complicated by a suspected love triangle. Investigators believe both men could be involved in the crime.
Yogo’s daughter found her leaning against her bed with severe stab wounds. Neighbors rushed her to Kisumu County Referral Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Police recovered a 30-centimeter knife at the scene, believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
The suspects are still at large, and police are intensifying efforts to locate them. The body has been preserved at the Kisumu County Referral Hospital mortuary, with authorities appealing to the public for information leading to the suspects’ arrest.
