Six Suspects Arrested After Foiled South B Home Break-In

Following a foiled attempt at breaking into a residence in the Jokim area of South B, Nairobi, at least a half-dozen individuals were taken into custody on Sunday.

The police stated that this group, which had a woman and a citizen of Tanzania, is thought to have connections to a series of home invasion occurrences recorded throughout several Nairobi locales like Westlands, Parklands, South B, South C, Lavington, and Kilimani.

The arrests, according to the police, happened after weeks of complaints about home invasions on residences whose residents were absent, notably on weekends and holidays.

Investigators have reason to think that security personnel assigned to different residential properties may have aided in certain incidents, even though investigations into such claims are still in progress.

Judith Nyongesa, who heads the Makadara Sub-County Police, mentioned that the group was primarily after common household possessions such as gadgets, apparel, and money.

It is alleged that they got into homes using universal keys and other specialized equipment, moving around in a Toyota Prado, a Nissan X-Trail, and a Mazda Demio that were all believed to have had false license plates.

Additionally, police have reason to think that the stolen goods were frequently sold outside of the country.

The suspects were apprehended on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after trying to break into a home whose owners were away on a trip.

According to the police, the residents, who were not in town, noticed some suspicious activity on their CCTV system and quickly told their caretaker and a neighbor.

The neighbor, using his connections, contacted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which resulted in a prompt police response.

The dramatic sequence of events was captured on security footage when a police car came and blocked the suspects’ black vehicle as they were trying to get away.

Before making the arrests, officers drew their guns and told the occupants to come out.

According to police, one of the suspects had been previously linked to a number of similar incidents, while another, who was identified as being of Indian descent, had also been seen on CCTV footage in earlier instances.

A female member of the group is thought to have been stationed outside of residences in order to keep an eye on the area and alert the others to any police activity.

During the operation, detectives found fake license plates and various tools thought to have been utilized during the break-ins.

The police have asked anyone who might have been a victim of related occurrences to report to the closest police station in order to help with the ongoing investigations.

“We strongly advise everyone who was affected by the break-ins to make sure they submit formal complaints to the National Police Service,” Nyongesa stated, adding that investigators are currently compiling data before bringing the suspects before the court.

Additionally, Nyongesa urged Nairobi people to step up security measures at their homes, particularly when traveling during the holiday season.

“With the approaching holiday season, we predict a large number of people to be traveling. We implore locals to have effective measures in place to protect their property. This starts with the security personnel they hire and the upkeep of dependable security cameras,” she stated.
