
Kenyan Hellen Obiri won the New York city marathon after clocking 2:27:23 to win the women’s open-division after staging a pulsating finish.

Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia took bronze after finishing the race at 2:27:29. This is Obiri’s second victory in her third career marathon, after winning in Boston earlier this year.
In the men’s open-division, winner is Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia emerged as the gold winner, in a course-record time after clocking 2:04:58, a course record. Still in the men’s category, Kenyans didn’t disappoint either when Albert Korir came second in the men’s race after finishing the race at 2:06:57 to win silver medal.
