Veteran musician Eric Onguru, who was popularly known as Kunguru is dead.
The 44 year old Kunguru died on Sunday March 19 in a Nairobi hospital after a long illness.
Kunguru shot to fame in 2006 when he released ‘African Woman, a track that featured Mr Lenny. He also released ‘I Will Never Let You Go’ and ‘Baby Don’t Go.’ with Mr Lenny under the label Ogopa Deejays. The late Kunguru who was also a banker with the Standard Chartered Bank has left behind a wife and two children.
The musician’s former manager attributed his prolonged illness to an accident he suffered in 2009 or 2010 that affected his spinal cord.
Mr Lenny has mourned the late Kunguru, with sweet, emotive words a day after he passed on. Lanny has narrated on Facebook about his first meeting with the late Kunguru whom he cheekily says was ‘speaking so fast’ he could barely understand what he was saying.
