The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth leader Kasmuel McOure has raised concerns about the United opposition’s ability to bring about change in the nation if they were to succeed President William Ruto after the elections in 2027.
In a local TV interview on Friday, October 31, 2025, McOure remarked that the coalition consists of individuals who have not demonstrated reliability in positions of authority and cannot be trusted now to introduce new leadership.
Not capable
“The opposition needs to be examined critically and with precision. Regarding Gachagua, we must remember his actions in 2024, during our protests. He was the sitting Deputy President; individuals like Lintuyri deceived us with counterfeit fertilizers, yet he now claims he wishes to return and free the nation. We cannot find trustworthy individuals among them to lead us forward. They have not shown the vigor necessary to inspire fresh ideas and a new vision,” he expressed.
He also called on the youth to actively participate in demanding change and fostering improved leadership in the country.
His comments follow his equal challenge to the country’s leadership to learn from Tanzania’s ongoing unrest. According to Kasmuel, there are important lessons to be learned about responsible leadership from the events in Tanzania.
He continued, “The demos are a clarion for the leaders; they should have leadership that cares for the people, preserve and address the shrinking democracy, and fulfill their promises to the people.”
Kasmuel on to also also applaud the rise of a politically aware and ever-enlightened youth. “Young people have shown that when things are wrong, they will demand change, and they have come of age with no opportunity despite studying,” he continued.
