On Saturday, December 6, 2025, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front Party, gave a special gift to Ida Odinga at the funeral of Beryl Achieng’ Odinga, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s sister.
Photographs showed Kalonzo offering the item in a small, white branded bag, and Ida Odinga was filmed looking through its contents. Kalonzo later clarified in a statement that the gift was a collection of photos from his visit to Opoda Farm on November 6, 2025. He added that these pictures also represented the shared history he had with the late Raila Odinga and the whole Odinga family. Kalonzo stated that this particular gift honored the Odinga family and their contributions to the nation.
Kalonzo remarked, “As a sign of remembrance and appreciation, I presented Mama Ida Odinga with our Jowi Thank You Tribute, which is a collection of photographs from our visit to Opoda Farm on November 6, 2025.” He continued, saying, “These photos not only capture a memorable moment for me but also represent a segment of our collective experience with my brother, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, and his family. Their unwavering dedication, perseverance, and constant focus on prioritizing Kenya have remained strong, even during challenging times, and continue to influence our country’s narrative.” He concluded, “This tribute was a small token of gratitude for a family that has contributed significantly to Kenya.”
Beryl’s Funeral
Beryl was buried at her family’s ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, during a serious ceremony attended by many people from various political backgrounds. The funeral, which took place at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga residence, attracted national figures, important guests, relatives, and acquaintances who came to celebrate a woman known for her intelligence, bravery, and steadfast values.
During a very emotional tribute, Ida Odinga shared details of her last visit to Beryl in the hospital. Ida remembered, “I visited Beryl in the hospital, but she couldn’t speak, and she was hooked up to many machines. I felt very disheartened. Her children were there too.” She continued, “When I returned home, I advised Raila not to see Beryl because she wasn’t well. I didn’t want him to see her in such a state, as I knew it would devastate him due to their close bond.”
