Governor Sonko and General Badi “Kiss and Make Up”

The Director of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services General Mohammed Badi and Governor Mike Sonko announced on Wednesday 12th August 2020 that they have ended their differences and would henceforth work together to deliver services to the residents of Nairobi.

The truce was announced at the KICC in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta who was issuing of title deeds to land owners in Nairobi. Badi said that his intention wasnt to remove Sonko and that he was just working as per the instructions of the President and assured Sonko of a good working relationship.

Sonko on on his part apologised to Badi and said that he was misled by policians who fuelled negative perceptions about NMS and added that the two had initiated a new working relationship after meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Sonko had received a tongue lashing from the President who berated Sonko, making it clear that he will not allow politics to derail his vision for the city. “Sonko, stop petty politics. Badi has no interest in the post of governor, Speaker, MCA or any other. After he is done with the NMS, he will go back to the military to protect Kenyans.” said the President.

The truce came immediately after Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi resigned abruptly from her position citing threats to her life.

Following the new working relationship, Governor Sonko announced on Thursday that he will drop all cases he filed against NMS.
