After losing the 98th Mashemeji Derby edition to AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia Vice President Sally Bolo believes that the setback serves as a wake-up call for the team in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

Go back to square one.

Gor Mahia’s 1-0 defeat by Ingwe on Sunday resulted in K’Ogalo not having won in the Mashemeji Derby for three successive editions, following a draw both at home and away last season. After a dominant display by Fred Ambani and his team, Bolo has conceded defeat and acknowledged that Charles Akonnor and his side have lessons to learn from the loss.

“Losing one-nil at home is definitely not the end of the road; it’s a wake-up call to get back on track, reassess, and improve our performance for the next away fixture.” She explained that champions are measured by their ability to recover, not by their setbacks.

AFC Leopards took home the day’s biggest reward, while Gor Mahia managed a consolation prize at Nyayo.
