Ugenya politician Daniel Juma popularly known as DJ is set to establish a Youth and Women empowerment office also known as Dongruokdala in Kanyumba East Ugenya ward in a bid to bring services to the residents of that area.
This latest move now brings the total number of Dongruokdala offices in the whole of Ugenya constituency to three. The first office was established in Ukwala ward followed by one in Magombe West Ugenya ward.
“I plan to set up offices in all the four wards of Ugenya constituency and the next center will be established in either Sega or Jera in North Ugenya.” says Juma who contested the Ugenya parliamentary by-election held on 5th April 2019 coming 3rd behind the current Mp David Ochieng and former MP Chris Karan who was sent packing after serving only two years. He has accused the current MP and the immediate former MP of giving handouts to youths only during election campaigns and disappearing until the next elections.
“Empowering our people must not just be a one time affair of issuing handouts then disappearing only to re-emerge five years later with the same handouts. It is on this basis that i found it necessary to establish these offices to continue serving the people in various capacities instead of just waiting for the campaign season,” added Hon Daniel Juma.
The offices will offer vocational training services in the areas of tailoring, computer training, talent search, artisanry amongst others. After completing their courses, the trainees will be issued with certificates from Dongruokdala Vocational Training Institute and successful students will also be empowered with merchandise such as free sewing machines so that they can start their own businesses. The offices will also serve as official communication platforms for those who wish to air their concerns with Hon. Daniel Juma at the Constituency level.
