Former Ugenya MP Chris Karan misses out on ODM nominations

Chris Karan.

Former Ugenya member of parliament Chris Karan’s hopes of returning to the August have been extinguished after his name didn’t feature in the nomination list presented by the party to the IEBC.

Karan who lost the seat in the 2019 by-election had hoped to make a huge come back to parliament through the just concluded ODM primaries but as fate would have it, he was forced to shelve his ambitions after the party issued a direct ticket to one Daktari Daniel Odhiambo.

Prior to the issuance of the direct ticket, there were push and pulls between the ODM candidates in Ugenya with words going round that Mr. Karan would be nominated to parliament if he stepped down for the party’s choice.

According the former Mp’s supporters who spoke to Nyanza Daily, Karan had vowed to fight it to the end but he only abandoned the move after top party honchos within the constituency hinted to him that he would benefit from the ODM appointments if he remained loyal.

However, Karan’s was clearly missing from the recent nomination list released by the ODM party that included current party chairman John Mbadi, Orange party’s National Elections Board chairperson Catherine Mumma, Umulkheir Harun Mohamed amongst others.
