Big Mic, former Total CEO’s son laid to rest in Ugenya

Michael Harold Adewa, the son of former Total Kenya Executive Director Joseph Adewa who died suddenly in Nairobi on 18th October 2021 was laid to rest at their home in Sigweng Karuoth in Ukwala Ugenya Constituency.

The burial was attended by leaders from all over the country including Siaya politicians Senator James Orengo, gubernatorial aspirants Charles Owino Wahongo, Nicholas Odero Gumbo and several others who utilised the occasion to campaign for the 2022 elections.

Other leaders included area MP David Ochieng, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, Nairobi Lawyer Roger Sagana, businessman Edwin Ngon’ga among other leaders. The Global Peace Foundation Kenya CEO Daniel Juma who visited the family at their residence in Nairobi described Mike’s death as a big loss to the people of Ukwala where he comes from.

Mike Adewa also known as ‘Big Mic’ was Co-founder and Creative Director at Red BTL together with Paul Okwalinga-CCO and Co-founder, where he worked until the time of his death. He leaves behind his wife Yvonne Jaluha Ngaruma and several siblings including Mr. Sidney Omondi Adewa and Ms. Elsie Anyango Adewa,

Mike’s father Joseph Adewa joined Total Kenya as Business Development Manager in April 1990 rose through the ranks to become the first Kenyan Deputy Managing Director in July 2006. He retired from the mainstream oil business in 2009 having overseen the successful acquisition of Caltex in Kenya

Immediately after retirement he was appointed to the position of Executive Director to oversee the implementation of Total group and the World Bank Africa Road Safety Corridors Initiative which was launched on 27th April 2011 at Malaba town on Kenya/Uganda boarder After the launch he created an implementation NGO-Safe Way Right Way of which he was the Chief Executive Officer from June 2011 to October 2016.
