Family appeals for help after 13-Year-old drowns in River Oluch

The family of a 13-year-old boy who tragically drowned in River Oluch in Katonde, Karachuonyo, is urgently seeking assistance from government agencies and local divers in recovering his body.

Griffin Ochieng’, a grade seven pupil at Obujo Primary School, lost his life while swimming with friends on Friday. According to his father, Jared Dondi, Griffin was left at home on Friday morning when his friends invited him to join them for a swim at the river—a trip that marked the boy’s first visit to the popular swimming spot.

During the outing, Griffin drowned in the presence of his friends, who, in their panic, took his clothes and returned home to inform his family of the tragic incident.

Since Friday, Griffin’s family has been camping by the riverbank, holding out hope for the recovery of his body. They have made a heartfelt appeal to local divers and relevant government agencies for assistance in the retrieval efforts.

The community is rallying around the grieving family during this difficult time, as they seek closure and justice for their beloved son.
