Kenyans turned up in large numbers to honour their late President Mwai Kibaki on Friday at the Nyayo National Stadium during a requiem mass conducted by the catholic church. The event was preceded by a military procession from State House Nairobi along Uhuru Highway to the Nyayo stadium.
Speakers at the event included President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Jimmy Kibaki who is the 1st son to the late president. The event was also attended by Souyth African president Cyril Ramaphosa, Ethiopian president Zahle Work Zewde, South Sudan president Salva Kiir Mayardiit and other leaders from Africa.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who led the nation in paying glowing tribute to Kenya’s third Head of State, the late former President Mwai Kibaki described Kibaki as the father of modern Kenya and visionary leader who came with the vision 2030 to guide Kenya’s development. Kenyatta said Kibaki fought a good fight and finished the race.
